Installation > PROGENITOR (The Last Humans)

What happens when inert materials begin to dominate organic life forms and their environments? What if life chooses inorganic matter as a new building block? What happens when trash is imbued with consciousness?

As I observe the pacific trash vortex and photo degrading plastic, small pieces of plastic worn down to smaller pieces, worn down to even smaller pieces, I am not certain that inert matter does not have a primitive intelligence. There are fish in the vortex with thousands of worn pieces of plastic embedded in their scales for their entire lifetime.
Maybe this plastic has a sort of consciousness. Or maybe this trash is becoming conscious through its journey.
